Exe Hockey Club

Exe Hockey Club

We are the newest and brightest hockey club in Devon! We were formed in May 2007, after over a seasons work by joint working parties from Exmouth HC and Exeter LHC. Both clubs share the same aspirations, for successful, but friendly hockey, played from childhood into veterans status!

The clubs had respected each other mutually over the last 20 years and enjoyed spirited on the pitch competitions at annual events such as the Exeter tournament, summer league and the Devon Cup Final. During this period of time there had also been respected player movement between the two clubs, which had helped to foster an interest in the `league progress` of both clubs. But this spirit of cooperation had not historically existed, in the post war years the clubs were bitter rivals.

That certainly seems along time ago now and the merger process went ahead very smoothly, with plenty of players fully and passionately involved representing both clubs interests. The new club has a very healthy membership of 5 ladies teams, (ranging from National League level to Channel 2b) 2 mens teams and potentially over 80 junior members. The combined wealth and assets of both clubs is substantial and equitable, which has also helped make the merger process smooth. The new club will draw on the combined strength and ethos of two of the longest established clubs in Devon.
